Antique Car Insurance Virginia
How much is my classic Porsche worth?
I wonder what my 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera worth? It has a 3.2-liter, 6 cylinder engine. 60k miles. "Good" Condition (color, interior and mechanics). The car is driven primarily on the weekends (kept covered in a garage in Virginia). I'm just not sure if I will in the long term want to keep it or not. Its almost worth it, but insurance, maintenance and parking fees have me weighing my options. Also, should I expect that to escalate the value if it an ancient (25 years old)? Should I antque antique plates and insurance in this case? The 3.2L Carreras are good cars, and a lot of fun. The DME fuel management has been an improvement in the 911SC. The 1985 Carrera had a few minor improvements from the 1984 year (when it introduced was), but lacked the AC redesign, which came in 1986, and the change of the G50 gearbox in 1987. As a generalization, the 1987-89 models considered as the most desirable (although perosnally, I like the earlier 915-transmission, which is also quite a bit easier). In value terms, these cars are run from a low of $ 15k, $ 20k to the upper mid-range. Coupes tend to be the most coveted. If the engine works well in compression and leak down tests, there is no visible rust, and things are generally in good condition, should They lie in the upper half of this range. In terms of color, Guards Red is not very desirable (if only I few people who know each other as they actively seek their Favorite color) … But it is also not a color that is most offensive (perhaps not high on the list, but it is a popular color). If the paint is in good condition (And original), this will probably help the overall value. The mileage is probably a plus for someone who wants to use this as a show car. But for a car that is driven to the low mileage would be more of a warning sign. The older 911s were driven, and just sit, which is much more likely that there are many parts that not properly lubricated by and is prone to failure when they come to use regularly. But overall, people are less familiar with older Porsches at the mileage seen as a plus, and it should only affect the value in a positive way. As for future value-oriented? The 3.2 Carrera was the last the shock-era, and in many ways the last of the "classic" 911 brings (with the 964 in terms of how to replace power steering, coilovers, the bars, etc) and as such it has a growing interest in these cars was. They represent some of the best features of the 911 at this time, and some of the best performance for a basic version of a 911th Street But in the 1980s was a period of strong sales for Porsche, there are a lot of these cars still out there. As such, it is unlikely that they will be (except for rare elements such as the Club Sport option) very sought after by collectors ever. Further, in comparison to the fact that the newer Porches model (986 and 996 in particular) have seen such rapid devaluation of the earlier cars, make it likely that cars like a mid 80s 911 of appreciation much, if at all. Sell on the positive side, since some of these newer cars have already started for less than the older cars, older Cars are considered, or at least close to the bottom of their depreciation. If you love the car, keep it fun! They are fun cars (and most, they sell that many spend years after they had not requested). But if you look at how an investment, you'd be better off looking at a much earlier 911th
